If you’ve sat through generic safeguarding courses that leave you no clearer about what to actually do when a concern arises in your own practice, this training is different.

Designed specifically for counsellors, psychotherapists, and practitioners working in private practice, this 6-hour CPD day goes beyond compliance and ticking the box  and into the real, often messy, decisions you face when working independently, without a team, a line manager, or an organisational safeguarding lead to turn to.

Description

What we’ll cover
  • The legal foundations – the legislation and law underpinning adult safeguarding, and what it actually means for your day-to-day practice
  • Safeguarding in private practice – how the law applies when you’re working alone, including setting out your safeguarding obligations clearly in your contracts, policies, and verbally with clients from the outset
  • Making referrals – when a referral is appropriate, how to make sure the information you provide is meaningful and useful and what your role is once a referral has been made
  • Complex clients – working through real anonymised case studies that explore the complexities of adult safeguarding, particularly where an adult has capacity and doesn’t want a referral made
  • Transferable risks – we will touch on a safeguarding children, recognising that some of the adults you work with are parents or hold positions of power, and help you think about the safeguarding risks that cross over
Who it’s for

Counsellors, psychotherapists, and practitioners working in private practice who want practical, applicable safeguarding knowledge not just a certificate to file away.
